Prep for your first bloggers event | Read More
I took a poll on Instagram,
if you all wanted a an experience based blog or an informative one and the
votes were equal . So, here is a post fusing both the categories: D
You’ve been invited to
attend a bloggers event, as it’s your first you’re a little nervous and you
don’t know what to expect? Don’t back out last minute, your first event may be
a little nerve wracking but once you've been to one you'll know what to expect.
In hopes of being super helpful, I thought I would share a few of my
personal tips to make the most out of blogger events with you fellow blogger
babes.
1. Follow Follow : The event most likely has an instagram handle or a hashtag. Make sure you follow it to see all the pre event happenings and get a gist of what to expect when you get there. You might even find out people going to the same event and make connections.
2. Plan your journey: Make
sure you know exactly where the event is being held, organise your transport
and find nearby points of reference so you don’t get lost. This way you won’t
fret that you’re going to get lost or be late!
3. Get
there early: If it’s your first event , the earlier the better
to give you chance to talk to the brand and also make acquaintances as people slowly filter through the door. Obviously don’t get there an hour before but a
good 15-20 minutes earlier is perfect. You get to meet everyone who enters and
hence don’t have that awkward phase of having to go up to people and engaging
small talk.
4.
Small Talk: We all fret having small talk. There is nothing
more awkward than just standing there not knowing how to proceed with the
conversation. You are obviously in a space of like-minded people ask them about
their blogs/channels, their content, motivation etc.
5.
Dress like yourself : Unless the event has a specific
dress code, don’t let an outfit choice become an issue for you. Wear
something you feel confident in. Usually the dress code for blogging events is
pretty casual (unless stated) so don’t feel the need to wear something like a
party dress however if you feel more confident in a sparkly number then wear
it!
6.
Take blogging business cards: If you don’t have any
printed it’s not the end of the world but business cards are a great way to
pass on your details to brands and other bloggers if you’ve discussed
collaborating. You can always share your social media handles and then get
in touch.
7. DON’T be
afraid to photograph the shizz out of everything: There is nothing worse than getting home and thinking ‘Oh wow, I
have one blurry photo to work with here’. Don’t hesitate to
click photographs. Everyone there definitely knows the significance might as
well get some great quality content. You don’t have to get a SLR . A decent
phone camera is so much more handy and does a nice job.
8. Confidence is key : Don't feel timid in the company of established bloggers or bloggers who are doing really well. Everyone there is unique and so are you. Introduce yourself well and promote your work confidently.
9.ENJOY! : Learn about new products, meet new bloggers,
support new brands, take beautiful photos, tweet, Instagram. Blogger and media events have made for some of the best times I’ve had in
the past year. I hope they do for you, too!
Until next time
Polý agape (lots of love) and stay cheerful :)
