Hey You!

We all have that constant dilemma while we shop about having a GO TO lippie. Today’s post is just what you need. I have put together 7 lip shades that will look great on most desi skin tones. I know not everyone prefers wearing bright shades, neither do I. So, today’s post is a combination of nudes and pinks.
Let’s dig in.

     1.     Nykaa – 12M (Taupe Thrill)
A recent buy and I am already in love with it . One swipe and you get an opaque application. The wear is very comfortable and is a satin-ish finish although it states to be matte. It lasts for a good 4-5 hours and then fades leaving an even stain on your lips. Great for everyday wear.
Retails for: Rs 399

     2.    Revlon Matte Balm- Sultry  225
This is a cult lipstick. It’s present in almost every girl’s kit. Its a very subtle pink mauve that gives you the ‘my lips but better’ look.
Retails for: Rs 800

     3.    Nykaa-11M (Naughty Nude)
Also a recent buy, however it is more on the pink based nude. There is a pinkish undertone to this lip color.
Retails for: Rs 399

     4.    H&M Beauty- 005 (Rust Me)
If you haven’t checked out H&M’s cosmetic line you should! Click here to view a complete review of the products. As the name states this color is more inclined on the rustic brown side. Great for dusky skinned girls.

      5.    Maxfactor-350
This is my FAVORITE. The liquid lipstick comes with a doe foot applicator which makes the application super easy. The lipstick stays on for forever: P it can get a little drying on the lips so, moisturize your lips well beforehand.
Retails for: Rs 1050

     6.    Mikyajy-302
A great lip color for everyday wear. A preppy natural pink, that compliments every skin color. A very moisturizing formula but, requires reapplication every hour.

     7.     Lakme 9to5-Rose Touch
This comes in the lakme 9to5 weightless mousse range. This works as lip and cheek stain. They have a few other colors in this range as well but all come in similar packaging so you will have to look for the shades name to differentiate. This color is a nude shade with purple undertones and is great on the lips. Very moisturizing and stays on well.
Retails for: Rs 450

These lipsticks are the absolute best and can be your go to lip shades regardless of the occasion.

P.S: I did plan to show the swatches as well but, my hand just won’t be pretty for the camera: P.

Until next time

Hello Hello !
Happy Sunday Kyfam! Aren’t you loving the weather nowadays ! I put together this look book of winter essentials and how you can transition your summer clothes to winter wears . Keep Reading .

      1.  The Hoodie : Isn’t this a staple ? I love this over sized hoodie (men’s section find).

     2. Trench Coat: Another staple when it comes to winter outfits. This one piece revamps the entire outfit and gives a very chic look.

Transforming Summer clothes to Winter wear .

“Layering” It goes without saying . (Hey that rhymed : P) . All your summer clothes can be re-worn by layering them with warm fuzzy cardigans.

      1. The cardigan : Featured this on gorgeous grey cardigan on a previous post CLICK HERE to read .

If you opt to wear dresses then a shorter cardigan always looks better .

        2. Waterfall Front Jacket : This was gifted by my baby sister and I absolutely LOVE this jacket . The waterfall front adds oomph to the assemble . OF-COURSE it had to be minimal pink :P

       3. Bomber Jackets : These are so sporty yet casual and so so comfortable ! Loved this tropical print summer dress , warm leggings and bomber jacket combination . Paired them with white sneakers   and white jersey  hijab .

Until next time

Wassup Kyfam !

I believe, there is not a single piece of clothing a Hijabi cannot R O C K ! If it wasn't already so obvious, the cold shoulder trend has been taken by storm the past couple of months. I wanted my modest babes to be able to rock this look so I tested it first and let me assure you, it worked and looked so cute!

Presenting you the second post from my new series “Make It Work !” click here to read the first one .

Me and @anupa_anunomics  collaborated to give you guys a clearer look on how cold shoulders are styled, parse how modest dressers style them.We did a fun post on her page as well click here to check it out .

cold shoulder top

What Anupa wore :

Black Pant paired with a floral cold shoulder top .

What I wore :

I chose to go for a bright pink cold shoulder dress. The dress was baggy and had a lot going on already hence, I kept rest of the outfit pretty neutral with black and simple accessories.

Cold shoulder dress : Splash ( lifestylestores )
Leggings : Melange ( basic black )
ignore the wrinkly top please :P

Tip : Layer your cold shoulder dress/top with a shirt and you are good to go.

P.S : I was thinking of making a few more of these posts and make it a segment called “Make It Work !” .Would you guys like that ? Lemme know in the comments or on my social media .

Hello Beautiful People !

With so many itty bitty things hitting the seasonal fashion scene, it can be hard for modest fashionistas to find inspiration to come up with new looks for some fun in the sun. Luckily, there are a few ways out there to , in the words of Tim Gunn, “Make it work.” No matter what your personal style is , you can find something for everything.

Today’s pick is the infamous ‘crop top’ . Every store you enter the shelves are stacked with crop shirts , tees , hoodies and what not . So , I decided to give it a try .
I collaborated with @geetsingh1996 for this concept to give a clearer look on how crop tops are styled parse how modest dressers can style them .

What Geet wore :

What I wore :

I loved how this look turned out , styling the crop top over a pleated shirt and pairing them with parallel formal pants instead of  regular jeans/pants gave it a very formal chic look (very pant suit vibes ).

Crop tops look great over maxi dresses and flowy skirts as well .

Crop top , shirt , pant : Caramel ( Kuwait )
Platform Sandals : Westside Stores
Hijab : @faysh_ ( instagram store )

I have been practising this for the past four months and my skin has never been this clear and breakout free. My face was prone to a lot of breakouts and I had to double up on my concealer to hide the redness. However I stumbled upon this DIY mask/scrub and thought it giving it a try.
The entire concept is to avoid using chemicals on your face as much as you can. The one constant dose of chemical to my skin was my face wash so, I decided to put it away and use a natural face wash instead. There are a lot of brands claiming to be made of 100% percent natural products. However I was not satisfied and decided to make one myself.
You’ll Need :
      1.       Gram Flour.
      2.     Multani Mitti .
      3.     Mixing Bowl.
Steps :
      1.       Take equal amounts of gram flour and multani mitti . It’s very essential to do so.    The consistency does not come right if not equally proportioned.
      2.     Mix them well and store in a container.
     3.     To apply :dampen your face, take come powder mixture on your fingers and apply        in circular motion.
4 .    This can be immediately washed (like a face wash) or keep till the mask dies (approx 2 minutes) and then wash with cold water.
       5.     If you have dry skin like I do, I suggest you to moisturize your face after the mask as it can get a little dry.

Ever since I have started using this regularly I have N O breakouts! It worked really well for me. I prefer making small amounts of the mixture (1 tbsp each) at one time. That way it is completely used.

Looking like a million bucks doesn’t necessarily need spending the same. My entire wardrobe doesn’t have any over the top priced piece . The key to dressing well is all in the pairing. How you pair the pieces, the color palette and accessories.

1. Color Palette : One word solution “Neutrals” . Bright and out there colors only look good at parties and on the runway .Whites , Black & Pastels will instantly up any piece .

 2. Ignore Trends : They change almost by the hour , instead focus on defining your own individual style. Only wear what looks good on you .

3.Thrift It : Don’t worry about where you shop from , the important thing is whether  the item fits , is flattering and is a good color . Thrift stores can be a huge , mostly untapped resource . Altering and mending  them can convert them into staples .

4.Shop off season : Whenever  there is an end of the season sale , it is your time to raid . Season clothes get very pricey so , shopping for them of season is going to save you some bucks .

5. Minimal Prints : Always opt for minimal prints , clashing prints or wearing heavy prints on the top as well as bottom is not very pleasing to the eye.

6.Dainty Jewelry : When chosen and styled thoughtfully , it can elevate any outfit. Opt for clear crystals over plastic gemstones and choose darker metals over excessively shiny ones . For a classic look , add a metal or leather watch . Jewelry is the ultimate statement and conversation piece.

Current Crush : Celeste minimal rings .

RINGS

7.Points for Points : Flats and heels that are pointed have a look that screams expensive ! I've written a post all about shoes click here to check it out .

8.Shoes = Bag : Having your shoes and bag of the same color gives a well coordinated and polished look to your outfit .

P.S : The inspiration for this post was from a game I played with my cousins and this is what it looked like (Haha)  .

Until next time
