This is something I have personally gone through, at one point of time I had so much negative happening around me which lead me to think in the same way too . But, I am glad I re framed them and refrained from implementing on any of those thoughts or thinking more about them . Here are 6 effective strategies I use when ever my mind wanders into negative thoughts .

1.      Be the watcher : Simply being conscious of myself as a detached witness to my thoughts . This gets me thinking in another perspective and makes me realize my wrong.

2.     Name the thought : Acknowledging that these are just thoughts and nothing more than thoughts – not my reality .

3.     Just say no : When I catch myself in mental looping or worry I simply say STOP to myself . This might seem mere but is very effective , it breaks the loop and gets you to step out of it .

4.     The rubber band trick : Or the pinch trick , if the above tip doesn’t get me out of the loop I pop a rubber band around my wrist or pinch to break the loop of thoughts.

5.     Know the triggers : Paying attention to common worries and anxieties I brood about , has given me a lead to refrain from them .

6.     Distract : This I usually use . I do something that occupies my mind so that there’s no room for negative thoughts .

One of the most difficult skills to master at the beginning of your carrier is time management. You can waste tremendous amount of time by trying to multi tasking or focusing too much on unimportant details. Here are 12 things I want to learn while I am in my 20’s.

1.      There is always time : You never run out of time , you just have to prioritize better . If you didn’t finish something by time it was due , it’s because you didn’t consider it urgent or enjoyable enough to prioritize it ahead of whatever else you were doing .

2.      Days fill up faster than you’d expect : Build in some buffer time . Avoid over scheduling by refraining from getting to precise with a plan . ‘The more precise a plan the more easier it is to miss’ .

3.     You get more done when you are in the zone : Some days you’ll be off your game , and other times you’ll  be able to maintain your focus for 12 hours straight. Take advantages of those days .

4.     Pursue the beneficial : You should pursue activities that benefit both your personal and professional lives . Don’t sign up for anything  that will consume your time and effort and not benefit either  , choose your tasks carefully .

5.     Push yourself, don’t burn out : Hard work sometimes entails stretches of little sleep . But make sure you relax well or exhaustion will catch up on you .

6.     Multitasking kills your focus : If you have two tasks to be done . Do them separately ,doing time together is going to give them only 50% of your attention and won’t be to your level best  .

7.     Distractions can be controlled : You know what your distractions are , keep them at bay  and you are good to go .

8.    More work hours don’t always result in productivity : Don’t kid yourself into thinking that if you sit at your desk it will somehow extract work from you . Work effectively and fast .
9.     Starting time : If it takes more than twenty minutes to get started , change your task . Working on the same one will slow down your groove .

10.Take notes : Don’t assume you will remember every good idea that comes to your head during the day . Keep a pen handy so that you can jot it down .

11.  Keep larger objectives : Keep your eyes on your real prize . Doing this gets you through your working day .

12. Bye Past: If your previous task was of the same genre didn’t go well , don’t let it hinder you . Focus on what’s in front of you and make it the best you have done yet.

Until next time

      1.      Accept what we cannot change: We can accept what we cannot change by changing what we can. Make choices that are realistic, not out of reach. Make short terms goals.

      2.     Create environments that reduce stress : Hues of cool coloring greens and blues are positive colors that can reduce stress and create a sense of well being .

      3.     Maintain a sense of humor: When has laughing not helped , knowing that people enjoy being around you will help a lot to up your confidence and decrease your level of stress.

     4.     Stop and look at yourself : Take time to recognize signs of stress such as anger , exhaustion and poor quality of sleep . As you become aware of these signs , you are beginning to identify how to make stress work .

      5.     Make decisions : Indecisiveness increases stress . If you make a bad one just re evaluate.

      6.     Talk it out : If someone or something troubles you might as well speak it out . Nothing else is going to help really . The only thing happening will be stories and pressure building up in your head .

      7.     Don’t say yes to everything : Recognize what your strengths are and focus on taking time to do a project .  Taking on many things may result in loss of control and create stress.

      8.    Organize: Works for me at least . Taking the ‘dis’ out of disorganized can produce a sense of control in knowing what will happen and where it is kept . This in turn reduces stress.

     9.     Leave time for unexpected : Leave time for analysis and take time to sort out .

10.Spend time with friends/family : Let stress be your teacher and learn from everything you did . Talk it out and share . The key to lesser stress is to not keep anything unwanted in your head , if it can be sorted out by talking then do , least share it with your closet .

Until next time

Hello ! Hello !

I am posting a fashion blog after quite a while , the last was on back in November I guess . Anyways this was very spontaneous . I was heading out for a quick bite and decided to blog on the look . It was simple evening out so , I opted for a  casual with a tinge of formal  look .

I did not put much thought into the outfit , just paired up the basics with a blazer . Monochrome never goes wrong , so I chose to wear a plain white tunic and paired it with black pants . Topped the outfit with my navy blue blazer to add a little color . For accessories I wore a ivory clutch , watch and boots .

The outfit details are listed below the images .

White tunic ( Max ) , Black Pants ( Riva Kuwait )

Navy Blue Blazer (Zara Women )

Boots ( Payless )

Watch ( Alba ) , Ivory clutch ( Accessorize )

P.S :  Follow my Instagram handle for the blog , it's linked in the footer :*

Until next time

All these years I always have been constantly asked “What is your new year’s resolution?”. No matter how much I try to be focused and accomplish it , I fail . After all those resolutions went down the drain I decided on something new. I am going to make my resolution a success by tackling one new habit a month for an entire year. By the end of the year, I will have 12 new habits that will benefit me for a lifetime. You can join me in this quest too .
Let’s get started! Not January anymore, no problem. Just jump in wherever you are, and loop back at the end of the year.

Save More Money:     I realized that the previous year I just splurged my pocket money as soon as I got it . So, this month I am going to save money. Any unwanted subscriptions or temporary urges will be cancelled. Starting simple I’ll get packed lunch instead of buying it .

Practice Mindfulness: Unplug more , I am planning to make sure I am away from my phone /tv/laptop screen for at least three hours a day . This I think is going to make a good difference in my life.

Get Organised:  Planning on digitizing all my documents , so that I can have it on the go . Purge the home of expired products and unwanted items. Scan my wardrobe of what I haven’t wore this month and give it away .

Anti stress activity: Make sleep a priority (Give yourself the optimal amount of sleep , and don’t compromise on it ) . Fit exercise into everyday. Use a planner (to have all your events and to do’s set).

Eat more fruits : Although veggies are somehow incorporated in our daily diet . Fruits need to be too . Planning on spending the evening snacks with fruits bowls rather than fried yums :P

Value experiences over things: As this time of the year many people including myself will be on our summer breaks . I have planned on valuing the experiences more than capturing them. Learn from each day . Go on a refreshing holiday , even if it is a weekend getaway .

Drink more water : Keep a jug /mason jar on my bedside and keep sipping on it . So that i keep myself more hydrated and keep a track .

Learn a new skill : I love doing this . and have been doing it from a long time . Whenever I get spare time , I try to learn something new and useful .

Control proportion sizes:  Smaller servings and plates , to control the urge to eat in excess of what is loved . So that my appetite is watched and balanced.

Practise Generosity: Smile a little more, be a little more kind . This month I plan on being more grounded and simple, to take opinions and suggestions positively and genuinely work on it.

Master in the skill I learnt : August was a month to learn something new . This month I plan on mastering that skill and spend more time on it .

Be more valued than materialistic : Things don’t matter as far as the emotion attached to it is . I plan on strengthening this value of mine and totally irradiate materialization.

Until next time

As long as we all love to be around a chirpy group of people all the time, the key is to recognize our need for constant external validation and squash it like a bug. It is very much essential to have some alone time. Now, there is a huge difference between being alone and being lonely. However, I do not intend to tell you to pull yourself away from everyone, just take some time to rejuvenate yourself. I call it ‘Me time’ (yeah, okay: P)
Here is what I do in my ‘Me time’. These are also great ideas for the time you have nothing to do, and have spare time up your sleeve.

1.      Shower: Stating the obvious? Well, I think it’s the best time of the day to relax and believe it or not the greatest ideas do come while you are there XP.

2.     Read a book/article: when I have time to spare , my go to thing is to browse through blogs or read a novel . This not only enriches your vocabulary but also gives you a nice niche of phrases.

3.     Try some DIY: Redecorate your room, add little elements to personalize your space, craft, there are in numerous ideas based on the mood you are in.

4.     Rediscover your hobbies: With the busy schedule we run in, we leave behind our hobbies. Bring them out and re discover them. These always get you into a happy mood.

5.     Discover your style: I love doing this, get your clothes out and mix match to create new looks from the existing outfits. Try new styles and color combinations. While doing so you can also organize your wardrobe.

6.     Try a new makeup look: Girls, we all know there is one look that we admire but just don’t get it right. Take this time and perfect it. You can try different eyeliner styles, lip shades etc.

7.     Get cooking: I love baking, but it’s also a long tedious process. Instead in my spare time when my baking instincts kick in. I layer pound cakes and cream to make trifles or any minute snacks.

8.    Window shopping: Nothing cheers girls better than shopping, go view a few stores and get ideas to dress and layer.

9.     Go for a walk: Enjoy the fresh air and environment. This is really a boost.

Until next time
