Wassup KYFAM !

We all are low key fashionistas and want to keep up with the latest trends but, everything trending is either pricey or not in reach (especially if you dress modestly like I do IMPOSSIBLE !). Pause and look around , every city has its gem where you can splurge and get more than what you spent . Such a place is Bangalore’s Commercial Street . A sprawling flea market with lanes and lanes of apparel , accessories , home decor and what not . On my recent visit to this flea market I gave myself a challenge of spending only Rs.1000 and see if I could put together a complete outfit.

Keep reading to see what I assembled.

The lane I went to was right adjacent to Safina Plaza , this landmark will get you to the exact places I shopped at  and also is a safe spot to park . After an hour and a half of exploring and frisking multiple shops I settled for a denim shirt dress which I wanted since forever , a tang sling bag , strap flip flops,  an long owl chain , arm candies and a long black tank top . I will mention the shop and price deets below the images .

Denim shirt dress : Rs.350 , Shop No. (110)

Tang sling bag : Rs.150 , Shop No.(148)
Strap flip flops : Rs.200,Shop No.(72)

Chain:Rs.50, Shop ( Street Vendor)
Arm Candies : Rs.70 , Shop (Street Vendor)

Long Tank Top :Rs.130 , Shop No.(110)

The best part about the denim shirt dress is that it is so versatile and you can use it as a layering piece and get another look out of it . Layer it over a tank top and you have a casual street look .

I spent 1 ½ hour and Rs.950 on this look , it’s definitely a catch .Now that you know about the place what are you waiting for ? Get out and explore this wonderful street . It has something for everybody and you surely will find something of your style . I’ve not even mentioned the yummy street food ( Bhel Puri , Lassi and cut mango ! ) .

Take a day off and unwind in this chaotic home of small and big finds.

Until next time

I recently uploaded a picture on my instagram and told you guys to ask me some questions be personal , blog related , lifestyle or anything you’d want to know . Honestly this being my first Q&A I didn’t expect to get any questions :P But , I am so glad with the few I received :)  .LEGGO !

Q. What inspired you to start blogging ?

A: I love sharing my experiences with the everyone and blogging is a melting pot of my other interests like photography , DIY , travelling and reading . It keeps me busy (which I love) and whilst that I get to explore new ways of being creative and have fun .

Q. How do you find all these amazing topics to write  ?

A : (firstly thank you so much ) I am honestly inspired by everyday life , that’s why my blog is so versatile in topics . Everything I share is just like my real life . Share things I do every day I just might take a pretty picture of it but it’s still my real life and I love sharing it with other people and I hope it inspires them to follow their dreams, travel , try a new food , buy a new product or try a new style .
Other than that I get suggestions from my lovely viewers sometimes , browse through latest trends or keep a poll on my blog if I am confused on what to post .

Q. What do you consider as your weakness ?

A : This I don’t consider as a weakness anymore as I am effectively working on it . Anyway what was a major weakness of mine was taking all tasks to myself. As in if something was assigned to me and I wasn’t able to go past a certain stage I would never ask for help from anyone. This led to me getting fussy and stressed. This habit obviously gobbled up most of my time and energy and for nothing. Ever since I realized that it didn’t harm in asking for help and doing so was not a sign of weakness I have been more successful in my tasks and merrier.

Q: Who is your favorite cousin ?

A: This was asked by a cousin of mine :P . Anyway answering this, the ones I grew up with and shared my moody teenage with Samrah and Sana ( lifelines :*)

Q:How do you edit your blog images ?

A: Initially I used ‘picsart’ to edit my pictures and as gradually shifted on to ‘photoshopCS6’. For my title images I leave a negative space while shooting and place my title in there . For a detailed info I just might post about it sometime : )

Q: Why “Kyriasabah”?

A: My very first post was all about this .Answering to the question I followed few youtubers who had a MR. or a MISS prefixed to their channel’s names and I loved the concept and wanted something alike but , went for another language . KYRIA in Greek means “miss” and SABAH being my surname . Hence KYRIASABAH .

I loved answering to these and I am so glad you guys asked : )

Until next time

Summer being most authentic season all over the world, comes with its own delusions. The sunny season gives never-ending reasons to script wonderful days .Vacations, beaches, travel stories and the ‘to-do’ list can go on. I’ve come from the land of the deserts; Kuwait. To maintain the equity of the hot and dry weather, majority of the time I stayed indoors. My house and school were centrally air-conditioned and this became a reason why the terrible heat was never a threat. Residing in Kuwait, I built my own hub full of comforts.

It’s almost two years since I’ve moved to Bangalore and to slip into the lifestyle of here is still processing for me. Summer is the most difficult season for me. The sun in Bangalore is killer and to stay powered up the entire day is quit a task. Towards the end of the day, a dreadful fatigue lingers in the body; which naturally demolishes the efficiency of work. Here are two refreshing recipes for summer punches that rejuvenate the life back into you and keep you agile all day.

This tropical yellow smoothie is perfect for your loungy evenings and refreshes you with every sip . It is super healthy and delightful at the same time .

VOILA! your daily dose of fruit nourishment in a jar !!!

2.      Pineapple Mint Punch (serves 1) :
Just as effective as its name , this punches the summer stress away and inspirits you .

HEY Kyfam !

Today I’ll be  showing you how to refresh your side table decor without going out and buying a bunch of stuff because all things in today’s post need upcycled material  .

LEGGO

You’ll need :

Here I am upcylcing a shirt cardboard and a box that came with a cream I ordered. I am sure you’ll find something alike lying around at home . Getting into the first DIY.

     1.      Pin Up / Notice Board :

Take  a cardboard which comes along with a shirt when you purchase it , if it isn’t sturdy enough layer multiple of them together .

Cover it with craft paper of choice .

I love details so I added a twine border with the help of a glue gun  to match the other table decor and added a little bow on top .

     2.      Essentials Holder : This is my favorite upcycled item so far as it keeps all my essentials stored in a place and easily accessible .I keep my go to things in this holder and it saves me so much time .

Take the box and cover the bottom half of it up in glue , now wrap the twine around it to cover it completely .
Glue down the flaps ( you can fold them in or cut if you prefer to do so ) .

I painted the flaps with chalk paint , this paint allows you to write on it and is easily erasable . You can decorate the holder with embellishments.

This is the unpainted side , I think it looks pretty this way too .

And VOILA you have got yourself a lovely looking and accessible side table decor. I spend most of my time beside this table so , this DIY helped me a lot . I got to put all my reminders on the pin up board and all my essentials in the holder .

Hit on the follow button to get notified every time I post and leave a comment below if you  loved this upcylced DIY .

P.S : All my art supplies are from  the ITSY BITSY store .

Until next time

Hello Kyfam !

There is always so much to do work , life , family , friends. Moreover with someone like me , the more I do the bigger I dream and with this new passion of mine I keep thinking profoundly .
But lately I’ve decided to just take a step back and breathe! Here are a few things I’ve started inculcating in my daily routine to have a healthier, lighter heart.

     ·        Recreate your favorite food recipes into a healthy variation :

How often mindlessly do you skip your lunch because you are too occupied with work? To compensate you nibble on a few tid bits and pat yourself back to work. In this era of hustle and hush we forget to keep our hearts healthy. Incorporate nutritious goods into your daily meal or make healthier snacks to nibble on.

For some great recipes visit the instagram handle @eat.with.munazza .

     ·        Watch humor instead of daily soaps :

When you sit down to watch T.V switch on to something that will lower your stress level than increase it :P . Watching stand-ups and a few comedy shows gives great relief .

     ·        Step Out :

Make some time before dusk and stroll in a lush green place or any place that seems to calm your mind . This gives you time to rewind your day and have some fresh new positive thoughts . Few a times I don’t get the time to stroll instead I just sit  out and watch the kids play in the streets , this refreshes my mind and puts a smile on my face.

     ·        15 min rule :

Every time I sit down to write a blog , type or edit I tend to get engrossed in it completely . But, now I make sure I take a break every 15 minutes , this not only avoids strain but also gives me a window  to think differently . You might as well come up with better ideas .

 Until next time

Growing up I loved the idea of Hijab but , I was never forced to wear it . I was surrounded by such lovely women my mom , cousins and friends who inspired me each day . It was something I knew I would start some day but , wasn’t sure exactly when . As Hijab doesn’t just mean the headscarf it’s a modest way of life it includes your apparel , behavior and you basically represent your community .

I started wearing the Hijab in grade 9 . Prior to grade 9 I used to wear a pinafore uniform and wanted to transition to the long maxi uniform  so I seized this opportunity to start my Hijab journey .

Going to school adorning the Hijab wasn’t weird at all as many of my classmates were Hijabies , it wasn’t intimating or anything of that sort. However many girls face issues with the initial stage it totally depends on where you stay.   I am so thankful that I didn’t have to go through any rough patches and had constant support.

I obviously struggled with the draping part and had a whole weird scarf phase till a friend showed me how she draped it . My face type was drastically different from her so gradually I crawled my way into finding my style from the billion ways you can wear a Hijab .

It was all fun and games till I graduated from high school and flew to India to join university in Bangalore .

On my first day to college we had an orientation and I was fidgety to find that I was the only one in a hall of thousands who wore Hijab . At the end of the session there was an Q&A session and I was called on the stage to speak , I mean it was that easy to spot me in a crowd . Soon I was known as “the girl who wore Hijab” , “the girl from Kuwait” and stuff like that . It didn’t take me long to feel at home in my dorm room . My roomie was very supportive of my beliefs and kept me positive . I got through three years of college smoothly encountering weird and funny queries about my Hijab each day . Some of them being “Don’t the pins prick your skull ?” , “How many scarves do you own” , “How does it not slip ?”  and “Do you have hair beneath ?” .

With each year of fresher’s I see more people adorning the Hijab and it makes me so happy . I am glad I chose this path , as Hijab is such an indication of purity and dignity . It set me apart from the crowd(in a good way)  , gave me an identity , did not restrict me from being me and doing what I liked , is a visual reminder of not crossing the line , thought me patience (summer days ! it’s not easy) , empowered me by the fact that people went past the outer appearance and focused on my intellect . Assessed me for my personality and not just physical traits . Although it is just a physical piece of cloth , it affected me as a person .

However me wearing the Hijab doesn’t mean I am on some kind of at a "higher religious level” but it’s important to remember that muslim girls who don’t wear Hijab can just be as religious . Islam is not about appearance, it’s a religion based on inner intentions . It was my personal choice to dress modestly , to assert pride in self and embrace my faith openly , with independence and courageous conviction .

Until next time
